Kat has decided to join the synagogue youth group. Several months ago, she said she would never join this group. She belongs to another youth group and, besides, she really wasnt very interested in the kids in [this] group. What has changed her mind? Ill give you a hint (although her very smart uncle and grandfather did not need one.) Think three letter wordsas in B-O-Y. She first did something with this youth group when they went to see a movie she liked. She had nothing better to do that evening and a girl she rather likes asked if she was interested, so she went. That night was the night she met B-O-Y. When she came home, we heard a very little bit about the movie. We heard quite a bit more about B-O-Y. But then we went off on vacation and I didnt think more about it. Well, this week B-O-Y got up the nerve to call her. Among his questions was are you going snowtubing with the group on Saturday night? She initially had other plans, but quickly decided that the other plans could be put aside (and no, no one, male or female, would be stood up in the process.). Seeing the writing on the wall, I asked her if she was ready to join. If she had said no, I was going to charge her the difference between the member rate for the field trips and the non-member rate. The membership fee is not that high and joining would quickly pay for itself, even if B-O-Y only lasts a month or so. So Kat now is a member of a group she once claimed she wouldnt be caught dead in. Isnt young love wonderful? |
