Translation: If we give it to this guy, maybe he will bring his lovely wife and kids to our luncheon. Somehow, without being told, we knew he had excused his wife from attending the annual dinner (which we now hold at noon.) We can�t have that, can we?

Translation: Because someone has got to recognize and appreciate the poor guy

Translation: The repeatedly comes naturally because he likes routine. The visibly is a little harder. He would much rather be behind the scenes.

The guy belongs to more stamp clubs than his wife knew about before this award, has more exhibits and binders than any human being needs, but need not worry about divorce unless those binders start covering her side of the bed. (She does have her standards---although divorce seems drastic. Torture might be better.)

Translation: Whew! They mean the others who come to the stamp shows he helps run, read the web page Day-Hay helped him design, are �victims� of his judging, and watch him collect clubs. They aren�t insisting he has to convert his wife to his cause.
